The lack of any notable changes in South America was a bit of a surprise and widened the spread between CONAB and USDA which must be resolved at some point. Domestic stocks ended up higher than traders had anticipated and each market finished with modest losses.

May corn is up 1 cent per bushel, May soybeans are up 4 1/2 cents, May KC wheat is up 4 3/4 cents, May Chicago wheat is up 3 cents and May Minneapolis wheat is down 1/2 cent.
After spending some time in negative territory, cattle futures were able to gain some traction and move higher Thursday. Technical support held for the time being. Hogs struggled to close higher after the huge price decline Wednesday. The packers were not aggressive as most of their needs had been purchased.
